Understanding How Fluid-Structure Interaction Simulation Can Work for You

Thank you for your interest in our November 13th workshop, “Understanding How Fluid Structure Interaction Can Work for You.”  Please register using the simple form below.

Date & Location

November 13, 2012, 9:00am - 3:00pm Houston, TX (Location Details)FSI Simulation

Our seminar on November 13th will detail how customers can benefit from seamless, easy-to-use and robust fluid-structure interaction solutions with STAR-CCM+ as well as how they link leading FEA tools such as SIMULIA’s Abaqus.

What will the seminar involve?

  • Introduction to Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) simulation using STAR-CCM+
  • Juan P. Pontaza, Ph.D.: SME Fluid-Structure Interaction & Modelling
  • Real world examples from guest speaker and FSI guru, Professor Alan Mueller
  • Prospect Flow Solutions: Application and experience of FSI simulation in Oil & Gas
  • Live demonstration and hands-on session
Event attendees will benefit from three very knowledgeable guest speakers:
  • Juan P. Pontaza, Ph.D., Shell International Exploration and Production Inc., Research Engineer
  • Prospect Flow Solutions
  • Alan Mueller, CD-adapco Chief Technology Officer

Juan will discuss vortex-induced vibrations (VIV) of pipeline spans and flow-induced vibrations (FIV) of subsea hardware and how FSI simulations are used to model the physics governing these phenomena; for example, to predict fatigue damage.

Prospect Flow Solutions will present real world examples of how they have successfully supported their Oil & Gas clients through the application of FSI simulations.  Prospect is an engineering design and analysis provider to the world energy industries.  Prospect's vision and core values are to deliver engineering solutions that are appropriate, usable and exceed client expectation, while building mutually beneficial relationships with clients (www.prospect-fs.com).

Alan will discuss the application of co-simulation and the significance of the joint solution, including real world examples, validation, and best practices.  Examples will include dynamic loads, flutter boundary determination, FSI with 6-DOF, and free surface models.

Special Offer To Event Attendees Only:
If you attend this seminar, you are entitled to a 30% discount on the 2-day FSI training that will be held in CD-adapco’s Houston office on November 14 - 15.  Click here for the training syllabus and registration.
